Timbre is a private professional network. You share a lot with us to make it work. This document explains what we collect, how we use it, and what you can do about it.
We use your data to operate the service: match you with other members, open threads, send email notifications, and maintain the integrity of the network.
We don't sell your data. We don't use it for advertising. We don't share it with other members beyond what the product explicitly shows — your profile, your thread exchanges, your signal fields.
Your résumé content and written answers are processed by Anthropic's Claude API to extract profile signals and analyze writing patterns. This processing happens at onboarding and when you update your profile. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their API usage policies.
We send email as a core part of how the platform works.
All platform email is transactional in nature. Because Timbre is an invitation-only network and every message relates to your membership or active connections, email is part of how the service functions, not a marketing channel. You can manage notification preferences from Settings.
We rely on the following services to run Timbre. Each has its own privacy practices — we choose providers with strong data handling standards, but we can't guarantee their practices beyond our contractual terms with them.
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, your account is deactivated and your profile data — name, email, career history, onboarding responses, and any other profile content — is permanently removed within 24 hours.
Your contributions to thread exchanges — your question selections and written responses — are removed upon deletion. The thread record is preserved for other participants, who will see an indication that the other member is no longer on the platform. The thread is not deleted on their behalf.
Anonymized outcome signals derived from your activity — such as whether a thread was completed or resulted in an introduction — may be retained to improve matching quality across the network. These signals are not linked to your identity after deletion.
Résumé files stored in S3 are deleted when your account is deleted.
For members in the EU or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA respectively, including the right to access, correct, and port your data. Contact us to exercise these rights.
